Organization background

Bright Ideas for Women in need Association (BIWA) is a women’s led organization bringing together women activists, women’s groups, women HRDs, marginalized women, adolescent girls, street girls and teenage mothers in rural areas of Uganda founded in 2017 working to promote and protect the rights of women, addressing gender inequalities, promoting peace and justice, climate justice and building an inclusive society where marginalized women and girls are empowered to foster sustainable development.

Bright Ideas for Women in need Association

BIWA’s head offices are located in Nyakasharara town in Kiruhura town council, Nyabushozi county, Kiruhura district on Kaguta road with contact office in Mbarara city on Bananuka drive and its mandate is to build a society where women and girls are empowered to foster sustainable development. We create opportunities to enhance the socio- economic conditions and well-being of women, and provide volunteer programs in partnership with local organizations, women’s groups and women’s organizations to advocate for women’s rights and implement sustainable initiatives through our training and capacity building programs. The organization work with all stake holders to transform girls and women who are vulnerable and stigmatized by the society through multi sectorial, gender and culture sensitive approaches to adopt economically and socially improved lifestyles.

To improve the quality of life for stigmatized and marginalized women, their children, families and communities through formal education, capacity building, counseling, nutritional support, non-formal training, legal representation and human rights upholding.
